Saturday February 01, 2003

CLOVERDALE, Calif. (AP) A minor earthquake rattled portions of Sonoma County, but there were no immediate reports of serious damage or injury.

The estimated magnitude-3.5 quake struck at 11:45 p.m. Friday about 7 miles north of Cloverdale and 21 miles southeast of Ukiah, according to a preliminary report by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Cloverdale Police Department received about a dozen calls from residents, but there were no reports of any injuries, a dispatcher said. One resident reported broken china, the dispatcher said.

Cloverdale sits just off Highway 101 near the border of Sonoma and Mendocino counties.
