PALM DESERT, Calif. (AP) Olden Polynice, the NBA veteran
signed by the Los Angeles Clippers as a free agent in August, said
he is impressed by his team's progress midway through their
training.
``In a training camp that you don't have injuries, that's a
surprise,'' said the 38-year-old Polynice, who played with the
Harlem Globetrotters last season and was a member of the Clippers
from 1990 to 1992.
``Number one, the guys came into camp in great shape and number
two, Mike (Dunleavy) is doing such a good job of giving us stuff
that's conducive to what we're trying to do,'' said the 14-year
pro.
``But when guys come in in shape, when guys are healthy and
ready to play, it makes a big difference,'' he added.
Since the first full squad practice, the team has concentrated
on running and conditioning, and Dunleavy has spent most of the
time teaching.
Polynice said although the process is slow, he sees the team
learning quickly in evening scrimmages.
``I feel great being out here,'' said Polynice who has spent
time in Settle, Detroit, Sacramento and Utah. ``I'm blessed to be
back in the NBA. I have nothing to be complaining about.''
