City council approves name of San Diego's new ballpark

SAN DIEGO (AP) The naming rights deal to call the San Diego
Padres' new ballpark PETCO Park was unanimously approved by San
Diego's City Council on Monday.
The pet supply company agreed last month to a naming rights deal
reportedly worth more than $60 million over 22 years.
PETCO Animal Supplies, Inc., is a nationwide retailer of pet
supplies that was founded in San Diego in 1965.
The ballpark is scheduled to be completed by opening day 2004.
