WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Relief pitcher Courtney Duncan
struck out Graham Koonce with two runners on base in the bottom of
the ninth inning to seal the Portland Beaver's 6-5 victory over the
Sacramento River Cats in Pacific Coast League action Sunday.
The Beavers (2-2) scored three times in the first inning and
never trailed in beating the River Cats (2-2) for the second
straight day by the same score.
Kory De Haan had two of Portland's eight hits and Alex Pelaez
had two RBIs.
Jason Grabowski had two hits for Sacramento, including a single
to pull his club to within 6-5 in the ninth. Dave McCarty, the
designated hitter, followed with a walk before Koonce struck out.
