LOS ANGELES (AP) Martin Garcia scored the winning goal in the
67th minute to give Mexico City's UNAM Pumas a 4-3 victory over
Pachuca in the first game of a Copa Libertadores playoff
doubleheader Wednesday night at the Coliseum.
With the victory, UNAM Pumas reaches the final qualifying round
for the Copa Libertadores, South America's most prestigious club

Garcia, who replaced an injured Jaime Lozano in first-half

shot inside the right post.
Garcia scored against a 10-man Pachuca squad. Pachuca defender
Ignacio Hierro received a red card in the 59th minute for tripping
Rodrigo Lemos from behind.
Lemos scored the game's first goal in the sixth minute. Juan
Arango tied it in the 29th minute on a 22-yard free kick but Pumas
regained a 2-1 lead two minutes later on Luis Ignacio Gonzalez's
21-yard free kick.
Alberto Rodriguez, a member of Mexico's 2002 World Cup team,
retied the score in the 35th minute on a penalty kick. Martin
Boasso's header in the 52nd minute put Pachuca ahead, 3-2, but
Alvaro Gonzalez tied it one minute later.
