Kings 7, Ducks 4

Sunday September 29, 2002

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Mathieu Schneider scored the winning goal and assisted on another to lead the Los Angeles Kings past the Anaheim Mighty Ducks 7-4 in exhibition game Sunday.

Schneider broke a 4-4 tie at 3:46 of the third period with a slap shot over goalie Martin Gerber.

Schneider's goal came 44 seconds after Anaheim's Steve Rucchin tied the score. Rucchin faked defender Jason Holland to the ice and fired a wrist shot inside the left post.

Schneider sent Alexander Frolov on a scoring breakaway at 14:32. Frolov added an empty-net goal at 19:50.

Los Angeles won its third consecutive exhibition game. Anaheim has lost two of its last three.

Jaroslav Bednar had a goal and two assists for the Kings. Derek Armstrong, Eric Belanger and Mike Cammalleri also scored.

Petr Sykora, Paul Kariya and Ruslan Salei added goals for the Mighty Ducks, but Anaheim went 0-for-7 on the power play.

Los Angeles goalie Jamie Storr made 17 saves.
