San Francisco re-signs LB Brandon Moore
Tuesday September 24, 2002
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) The San Francisco 49ers added depth
at linebacker on Tuesday by re-signing rookie Brandon Moore, an
undrafted free agent who briefly made the team out of training
camp.
Moore, who had 143 tackles in two seasons as Oklahoma's middle
linebacker, was on San Francisco's 53-man roster for one day this
month.
New England signed him to its practice squad, but the 49ers
offered Moore a full-time roster spot after learning Jamie Winborn
will be out 5-to-8 weeks with a knee injury.
Linebackers Julian Peterson (right knee and hip) and Jeff
Ulbrich (knee) also aren't in perfect health, though Peterson might
be ready to return following San Francisco's bye week for an Oct. 6
game against St. Louis.
To make room for Moore, the 49ers waived rookie tight end Mark
Anelli, a sixth-round draft pick from Wisconsin who was inactive in
their first three games.
